WK4 CAMERA USE:TEXTURE,POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SPACE,
Negative space is the area between and around objects in a photo. Use it to see shapes and sizes more effectively, and produce better composed images.Mastering the use of negative space takes time. We're so used to focusing on the main subject in a scene that it can seem strange to treat it almost as an afterthought. However, doing so will make you consider each element in your scene more carefully, leading to much stronger compositions.Texture it’s all about patterns, colors and depth, and every single detail of a texture plays a significant role in the overall perception of the photograph.
I had to photograph five or more different textures filling the frame.
f/5, shutter 1/100sec, ISO 100, 27mm focal length
This is an image of a tree bark.I edited the image on camera use i increased the clarity, vibrance and decreased the exposure, contrast and highlights. This was taken using a straight forward vantage point.
f/8.0, shutter 1/40sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
This is an image of an orange.Using a high vantage point to capture this and using the rule of thirds to balance my composition.
f/4.5 shutter 1/160sec, ISO 100, 35mm focal length
This is an image of a brush as seen here are the textures of brush captured from an eye level point of view i used a narrow depth of field thats why the top part of the brush is a bit out of focus.Using camera raw i increased the shadows, clarity decreased the contrast and whites.I would say there is negative space in this image the spaces between the brush.
f/8,shutter 1/100sec, ISO 200, 55mm focal length
This is an image of an onion i sliced it in half to capture the texture.Using camera raw i changed the image to grayscale in the HSL tab i then decreased the exposure, shadows and clarity. This was taken from an eye level vantage point using a narrow depth of field.
f/5,shutter 1/250sec, ISO 100, 25mm focal length
This is an image of a dirty boot. With a narrow depth of field taken from a side vantage point.I used the HSL to change to grayscale.I increased the contrast, whites and clarity.I decreased the highlights and blacks.
f/8,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
This is an interesting shot because the texture of the tree and the cobwebs seen here adds more depth. The image was underexposed so i increased the exposure, contrast, blacks and clarity slider.
f/8,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
Another interesting texture seen here with the different shades of purple from the moss adding more texture to the image and depth. The image was under exposed so i increased the exposure, contrast, blacks and clarity.
f/8,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
As seen above this is a basket texture it was under exposed so i increased the exposure, contrast highlights, shadows and clarity.
f/9,shutter 1/100sec, ISO 100, 30mm focal length
Below are wider shots clearly defined subjects incorporating texture.
f/4.5,shutter 1/60sec, ISO 800, 29mm focal length
The defined subjects here with textures are the four different spices the negative spaces are seen around and in-between the spices on a cutting board.I should have taken this image with a wide depth of field. This was taken from a high vantage point.
f/10,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
The defined subject is the log positioning in the mid vertical lines using the rule of thirds. The negative space are on the side seen here are dried leaves and soil.I used a wide depth of field taken from a high vantage point.
f/10,shutter 1/40sec, ISO 800, 55mm focal length
Using a wide depth of field the main subject is the ice cream cone.I changed to grayscale increasing the exposure, contrast, highlights and clarity decreasing the shadows.
f/10,shutter 1/200sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
I placed the cereal on a black hand glove and poured milk i like how the texture on the gloves and cereal really stand out using camera raw i increased the exposure and clarity.
f/9,shutter 1/60sec, ISO 400, 34mm focal length
The main subject is the teabag and the dried tea leaves texture from both.I removed colour on the right side of the image because it was distracting and in the lens correction i pressed A to auto correct the image.
f/9,shutter 1/60sec, ISO 100, 29mm focal length
I like the texture on the shoe the fabric is very old and have that grungy look to it. Using the rule of thirds i placed it in the centre of the crack line. This was taken from a low vantage point.
f/9,shutter 1/100sec, ISO 100, 29mm focal length
I like the rusty texture on the element.Using camera raw i removed a nail marking on the right side using the heal brush. In the basic panel i increased the exposure and contrast and clarity.
Take different portraits of two or more people.Think about where to place the subjects in the frame and pay attention to the negative space around the subjects.
f/4,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 100, 55mm focal length
This is Shane he is the main subject i took this on a high vantage point he was playing outside and using a narrow depth of field the grass is out of focus that is the negative space.I increased the exposure, contrast and vibrance decreasing the highlights and shadows.
f/13,shutter 1/160sec, ISO 100, 115mm focal length
This is a portrait of a bird using the sky as a negative space it was cloudy that day thats why the sky is greyish in colour.Using the rule of thirds i centred the bird,On camera raw i straightened the image and then increased exposure, contrast, highlights and clarity.Using a wide depth of field and on a low vantage point to capture the bird.
f/13, shutter 1/80 sec, ISO 100, 18mm focal length
This was taken at a low vantage point using the sky as a negative space, the buildings and people are the main focus.
f/13,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 100, 18mm focal length
This was at Bucklands beach a portrait of my loves using the sky as the negative space,as you can see here the beach and the trees on the right is also the negative space.I took this on a straight forward vantage point using the rule of thirds to position them to stand in the middle of the frame.I used a wide vantage point to capture their surroundings also to capture the ocean behind them.Using camera raw on the lens correction upright Auto straightened,on the basic panel i increased the exposure, contrast, clarity and saturation to bring out the clouds and ocean colours.
Create a still life objects and think about the placement in relation to each other and also in relation to the negative space around them.
f/4,shutter 1/20sec, ISO 400, 30mm focal length
As seen here i placed my lipsticks together not forming gaps or space between them. The negative space just seen around the lipsticks.I placed the lipsticks on a pizza box and a black bag for the background improvising with what materials i have.Using camera raw i straightened the image and then decreased the exposure ,increased vibrance and saturation to bring out the colors in the lipsticks.I used a straight forward vantage point and i also used the flash on my camera.I like reflection of the gold on the box.Using a narrow depth of field.
f/4.5,shutter 1/20sec, ISO 400, 30mm focal length
I placed a perfume bottle behind the lipsticks and i think i must have moved the box because you can see a gap inbetween the pink and red lipsticks. The placement of the perfume is out of place in this scene. When you see the first scene with just the lipsticks you would think theirs no space at the back but i think its the black surrounding that makes it seem like theres not enough space.Almost like a mind trick when you place the perfume bottle at the back.Taking this image from a straight forward vantage point and using a narrow depth of field the perfume bottle is slightly out of focus.
f/4,shutter 1/20sec, ISO 400, 35mm focal length
The main subjects are the colored lids i took this from a high vantage point. You can see the negative space around the subjects and inbetween the bottles.Theres a big gap on the left side.Using camera raw i removed the label on the white smaller lid using the healing brush,i then increased the clarity and vibrance.
f/4.5,shutter 1/30sec, ISO 400, 35mm focal length
I placed a jar with an orange lid as seen here it has taken up alot of space towards the left making it look so crowded and uneven in the placement.I removed the white material on the upper left handside of the image using the healing brush and increased the clarity and exposure.Taken from a high vantage pint just capturing the lids.

FRICKEN LOVE THIS ONE BEE!!
