Warm colors are made with orange, red, yellow and combinations of them all. As the name indicates, they tend to make you think of sunlight and heat.
Cool colors such as blue, green and light purple have the ability to calm and soothe. Where warm colors remind us of heat and sunshine, cool colors remind us of water and sky.
Reds and greens are contrasting colors.A pair of colors which can be additively combined to produce white light are called complementary colors, because together they complete the spectrum.
The focal length of the lens is the distance between the lens and the image sensor when the subject is in focus, usually stated in millimeters (e.g., 28 mm, 50 mm, or 100 mm). In the case of zoom lenses, both the minimum and maximum focal lengths are stated, for example 18–55 mm.

Focal length Exercises
Using the 70-300mm lens from the technicians office i captured the following images using different focal lengths.I batch edited the three images using camera raw.I straightened the images, increased the exposure, contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation. The images also got some cool colours, blue and complimentary colours blue-green showing.
f/13 shutter 1/60sec, ISO 100, 70mm focal length

f/13 shutter 1/60sec, ISO 100, 300mm focal length
As seen above on the three different focal lengths i used. The focal length tells us the angle of view how much of the scene i captured the 70mm the island looks slightly small you can see another island on the far right,110mm you cant see the island on the right side and the main subject is closer,300 the island is really close appearing to be.The magnification changes because of the different focal length how large individual elements will be. The longer the focal length, the narrower the angle of view and the higher the magnification. The shorter the focal length, the wider the angle of view and the lower the magnification.
I had to take a portrait photograph, using three different focal lengths i had to move forward to make sure the subject is the same size in each frame.I batch edited straightening the images increasing the exposure, clarity, saturation and vibrance i decreased the shadows slider.
f/5, shutter 1/250sec, ISO 400, 96mm focal length
f/4.5, shutter 1/250sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
f/5shutter 1/250sec, ISO 400, 100mm focal length
The images below was taken with the 70-300mm lens from class. The main subject is the couple on the speed boat,I batch edited it on camera raw using the lens correction and straightening tool in the basic panel i increased the exposure, saturation clarity and highlights i decreased the shadows slider to reveal the trees on the cliff.Using 3 different focal lengths and standing on the same spot. Each time i increased the focal length the subject became more closer. The above image is blurry i should have focused really well to capture the eyes.
f/13, shutter 1/160sec, ISO 100, 70mm focal length
f/13, shutter 1/160sec, ISO 100, 100mm focal length

Colour Exercise
Below are photographs incorporating cool colours
f/4.5,shutter 1/60sec, ISO 100, 35mm focal length
This is a setup i created i placed the objects a clear mason jar and a camera like green pen in a blue bucket, the flash was fired because it was shot inside the house and the lightning was underexposed/too dark im happy how it turned out well.I used a low vantage point and a narrow depth of field. The cool colours are blue in this image.
f/6.3,shutter 1/320sec, ISO 100, 70mm focal length
I took this image using the tungsten light giving out a blue hues.Using camera raw i i decreased exposure, increased the contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation.
f/4.5,shutter 1/60sec, ISO 100, 32mm focal length
I used the same setup with the first image, using a blue bucket and inserted a blue perfume bottle the flash was used.Using camera raw i decreased the highlights and whites,i also increased the exposure, contrast, shadows.
f/5.6,shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
The cool colours are blue and magenta taken from a low vantage point.
Warm colours
f/5.6,shutter 1/100sec, ISO 400, 225mm focal length
This was shot in the afternoon when the sun was setting the warm colours are the yellow and orange tones,You can also see a plane if you look closely using the rule of thirds i placed it on the top horizontal line.
f/6.3,shutter 1/500sec, ISO 400, 55mm focal length
This has warm colours the reds being the dominant colour.
f/5,shutter 1/30sec, ISO 100, 36mm focal length
The warm colours are the yellow and pinks.I placed the floral band on a poker dot material to capture this image.
f/22,shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 50mm focal length
My son inside his playhouse he didnt want me to take his photo lol,the warm colours are orange, yellow, red i used camera raw to increase the exposure, highlights, vibrance and saturation i also decreased the contrast, shadows and clarity i used the cropping tool to crop the image, the flash was used.
f/5.6,shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 55mm focal length
The warm colour showing is pink and yellow i placed the flower on a black cardboard,Using camera to increase the exposure, also using adjustment brush to decrease exposure and brush over the dark areas.Taken from a low vantage point.
Below are images incorporating complementary colours
f/5shutter 1/30sec, ISO 100, 43mm focal length
The complementary colours are purple and yelloworange. This is a shot of my pencil case taken from a high vantage point.Blue and purple are cool colours.
f/4.5shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 37mm focal length
The complimentary colours are the blue and yellow taken from a high vantage point. On camera raw i increased the exposure, contrast, vibrance and saturation i decreased the clarity,i also cropped the image and removed lens distortion.
f/4.5shutter 1/80sec, ISO 400, 37mm focal length
The complimentary colours are the blue and yellow using camera raw i increased the contrast, vibrance and saturation i also decreased the exposure.Using the cropping tool to crop the image.
f/13shutter 1/80sec, ISO 100, 35mm focal length
The complimentary colours are blue and orange i increased the exposure, contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation taken from a low vantage point.
f/22shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 55mm focal length
I really like how the image turned out i took this at home outside my balcony, the flash was used the complimentary colours are blue and yellow-orange and green.Using the camera raw i increased the exposure, contrast, vibrance and saturation i also decreased the clarity slider.
f/22,shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 37mm focal length
The complimentary colours are red and yellow you can see some blues, green, magenta and my sons orange shirt,a mixture of colours.Taken from a low vantage point.I used the flash to capture this image.
f/22,shutter 1/6sec, ISO 100, 18mm focal length
This was taken with a long shutter speed using the flash to capture my son i like the transparency of the image and the complimentary colours are the yellow, orange and green seen on the side.using camera raw to increase the exposure, contrast, clarity, vibrance and saturation.Below i used a fast shutter speed to capture this the flash was used in camera raw i increased the exposure, contrast, clarity, vibrance.
f/16,shutter 1/200sec, ISO 200, 18mm focal length
Observing light:
Below are photos i took in the morning and afternoon i noticed the morning light is more warm while the afternoon light is more cooler. The late afternoon light is orange. Morning colors are fresh (because of dew) and the light is bluish.
f/4.5,shutter 1/250sec, ISO 400, 25mm focal length
This was taken in the afternoon around 4pm
This was taken in the morning around 9am.
I had to setup a still life where the subject has cool colours.Shoot under tungsten light. The tungsten light (also known as "incandescent light") is perhaps the least expensive type of microscope bulb available today. Your home is filled with incandescent lights, then using the other settings.Seen here the bracelet is the main subject i placed it on a blur cover, taken from a low vantage point.
