Approximation of Tricia Martin, 2007
C-type print, 60 x 49 cm, edition of 3 + 1 ap

In this image you can see the light in her eyes indicating she just used one. There is more shadow on her left side of her face that means the light was placed  on the right side.As quickly as you recognise it as a studio portrait, replicating the classic oval shape remin-iscent of the vignette-style portraits produced in commercial photographic studios, you also become aware of its sickly perfection. The subject’s glistening lips and perfect complexion are familiar to us all from the pages of magazines and advertising, where they sell the ideal of perfect beauty. Taken from an angle. This image has cool tones because of the faded blue background and off white top the model is wearing.

Female Study (Gold), 2007
Diptych, C-type prints, each 140 x 116.8 cm, edition of 3 + 1 ap

In this image Todd would have used two lighs, the key light and fill light, the image where the model is facing her back the light would have been facing on her left side because it is more bright than her right side and you can see light on her hair on her right side. The first image where the model is on her side you can see shadows under her neck.Taken from a straight forward vantage point. The dress has warm colours because of the gold and her blonde hair. The story behind Female Study (gold) is intriguing. The sequinned gown was designed by celebrity couturier and Holly wood fashion icon, Bob Mack ie, and owned by singer and waning star Whitney Houston. It was sold in an auction of Houston’s personal effects to help her pay off a US$200,000 storage facility debt and then Todd bought it over the internet from a textile and clothing dealer.

This is an example of a still image. She would have used a key light, would have been placed on the right side because you can see shadow on the left. You can also see the flash reflecting of the glass on the right.Taken from a low vantage point, this image has a very clean look because of the white background, milk and glass bottle and just a pop of yellow colour (contrasting) showing on the straw.

I really like this image because of the warm colours.Taken from a high vantage point she would have placed the light on the top right because you can see the shadows falling on the right side.I like the texture of the sweets and the leading line in the middle differentiating the flavours and colours of the ice cream.
