WK 3 CAMERA USE VANTAGE POINT,FORE/MID/BACKGROUND
In class exercises:
Foreground, Mid, and Background Shot
Camera settings: Manual (M)
Quality setting: RAW
Colour Balance: Adobe RGB
ISO: 100 if shooting outside in bright light,400-800 if shooting inside
white balance:auto
Focus: Auto or manual
Shooting in manual mode:
Manual mode is an exposure mode similar to Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority, but unlike those semi-automatic options, you have to set both the aperture and the shutter speed by hand.
The camera won’t make any changes to the exposure, although you will still be guided to the ‘best’ exposure by the metering system, and all the other key shooting parameters such as focusing, white balance and ISO can be set automatically if you so wish.
This was my first time to ever shoot in manual mode my first shot was done in class.
f/16, shutter 1/60sec, ISO 1600, 55mm focal length
The image is abit under exposed and grainy because of the high ISO and the room was slightly dark.
These photos were taken in manual mode
Low angle portraits with a wide DOF
I took this image on the stair case while Mona was standing, the background is overexposed.
High angle portraits with a narrow DOF
I took this image standing on a bench while Mona was on the ground.I just realized that this image has the same aperture value as the first image angle.I didnt change my aperture value.I will need your assistance in this particular exercise please Caroline. As noted my apertures are of the same value because the the first image has a white background thats why i wasnt able to see whether it was blurred or not and over exposed because it was cloudy that day I really need to keep practicing on manual mode to understand and know when to change the shutter value and when to increase or decrease the aperture value and to also be aware of the background and light available.Practice makes perfect lol.
I took a portrait in which the subject is in the mid background the security guard or warden in action and the pregnant lady with the green top.The elements in the foreground that is Mona checking her camera she is blurred out because i was standing close to her,the background are the buildings, the large tree and the guy wearing blue on his mobile and also the background.Using a large F stop value to allow for a wide DOF.As you can see there is a pattern here in which all the objects are all holding a technological device which depicts our era we are living now.
f/10, shutter 1/60 sec, ISO 100 74mm focal length
I took a portrait in which the subject is in foreground as seen here mona is the main subject but she is blurred because i did not focus my lens and should have taken it from another angle and stood abit further from her.The elements in the midground as seen here is Carolyine and Sepa and also the tree trunk, the background slightly blurred is are the two guys sitting on the bench and the guy with the hat on the left the trees, people shopping and architecture .Using a small f stop value to allow for a narrow DOF
f/11, shutter 1/60 sec, ISO 100 55mm focal length
Self directed tasks:
High vantage points, for example, help organize complex scenes. At street level, faces and signs in a crowded marketplace dominate, making the scene chaotic. From a balcony or window above, however, crates of colourful fruits and vegetables form patterns, and streaming crowds weave inviting visual rhythms.
Low angles can exaggerate the height of tall subjects or reveal unseen aspects of low-lying ones, especially when combined with a very close viewpoint and the perspective-stretching effects of a wide-angle lens. A photograph of the Statue of Liberty from a normal viewpoint with a normal lens looks, well, normal. But move up next to the base with a 24mm or wider lens and shoot straight up, and it becomes a soaring tower of converging angles.
I had to take a low angle portrait with a wide DOP hes on a slide while i was leaning on the ground.
This is Leikhar he is 7 years old he likes playing sports, dancing and loves being outdoor.
f/8, shutter 1/640 sec, ISO 100 135mm focal length
f/5.6, shutter 1/160 sec, ISO 1250 52mm focal length
This was also taken a low angle with a wide DOP.This is the sunday school for the Rotuman Weslyan Church celebrating palm sunday.
f/22, shutter 1/10 sec, ISO 16000 50mm focal length
Here is an image of a canon lens the subject in the mid ground using a large f stop f/22 the foreground is slightly blurred because the camera was really close and the background is the open space.
f/1.8, shutter 1/320sec, ISO 16000 50mm focal length
This is an image where the subject is in the foreground using a low aperture value.
f/8, shutter 1/1000 sec, ISO 100 135mm focal length
This was taken at a low angle the kids where standing on the stairs.
f/5.6, shutter 1/100sec, ISO 100 135mm focal length
This is a shot of my husband and son at a high angle with a narrow DOP I was standing on the stairs when i took this image.
f/5.6, shutter 1/160 sec, ISO 1250 135mm focal length
This image was shot at a high angle,I had to stretch my hand out to capture this.
This was shot during the otara markets using a small f stop value which the asian man is in the foreground,my husband with the black shorts and colored shorts is in the mid ground and in the background there is an old white couple buying vegetables on the left and right are guys standing and right at the back is another guy standing and looking towards the camera.
f/5.6, shutter 1/50 sec, ISO 100 55mm focal length
This is my son Titus in which he is in the foreground he was running so thats why hes hands were blurred,I should have increased the shutter speed to freeze the whole image. The mid ground and background are just legs i should have captured the subjects whole faces and framed it,I used a small f stop value with a narrow DOP.
f/8, shutter 1/640 sec, ISO 100 18mm focal length
This is an image of a clothes line taken at a low angle with a wide DOP.I took this during the afternoon and was lucky to capture the blue sky.I placed the camera upright on the ground to capture this.Below is the before and after i used the auto correct tool to brighten up the image.
f/5, shutter 1/80 sec, ISO 250 24mm focal length
This is an image of a power line shot in the afternoon.Shot at a low angle with a low DOP
f/4.5, shutter 1/80 sec, ISO 250, 24mm focal length
f/13, shutter 1/80 sec, ISO 100, 39mm focal length
This was taken with a low vantage point in the city. With a wide depth of field to capture the buildings and surroundings.
f/5.6, shutter 1/80 sec, ISO 2000 135mm focal length
This was shot at night at a low angle,Im still getting use to shooting in manual mode and shooting at night,I think in this image i should have used a long shutter speed and high ISO to brighten up the image and to also capture the night light surround the building.
Heres a before and after i edited in camera raw i used the auto correct on the basic panel increased the exposure, decreased the clarity and highlights to show more structure and light of the building.
