WK 5 PORTFOLIO

This week was my last photoshoot for my portfolio. My journey from my first photoshoot till now was an amazing roller coaster. All materials used were  Recycled Goods.Just something i researched online that most of the clothing that is disposed of each year is still very wearable, but it is thrown out simply because it is out of style, old, or we are just tired of it; however, recycled fashion or up cycling means we use the perfectly good textiles and re-work them into up to date styles. The more we reuse, the less we have to take from our planet.I used plastic folks for this series,Plastic utensils are typically made out of two types of plastics: polypropylene and polystyrene. Plastics are made from monomers and are produced from a process called polymerization. Monomers, single sequence molecules, such as ethylene and propylene are produced from natural gas and oil. The ideas for my photoshoot i created were simple day to day items which was easy to implement for my portfolio. For this photoshoot the images were taken in portraits because i wanted to focus on the head piece i created with the plastic folks the background is plain white,i added the blue blanket because i like the colour and texture on it. I used a feather earring to create more style to the image. The model is placed in the centre of the frame almost filling the frame.I like the blanket texture with the Smoothness and the Feather creating different contrast. all images were shot using the built in flash for lighting.
I want the viewers to just be aware about recycling.  This one is a no-brainer; the more we recycle the less we waste.  We should all make an effort to recycle as much as we can.We owe it to ourselves and each other to help make a difference.
materials used: plastic folks,blanket,feathered earrings,gold necklace,leopard coat

I used a blanket to cover his head just playing around with the pose.It is amazing how much the direction of your subject’s eyes can impact an image. something that can create a real sense of connection between a subject and those viewing the image. But since i plan to hide or cover the models face without having any eye contact with the camera this particular pose would not pair with my portfolio images.Nevertheless for the images below i was playing around with the pose, outfits and angles.

FINAL IMAGE 10
I beyond a doubt like this image because it was different from my previous shoots i had planned to do this shoot outdoor but then i tested it with a plain background and it actually turned great because i wanted to focus on the outfit this was shot in a portrait form i enjoyed the face paint, on the model, the plastic folks as a crown was easy to make i gathered these plastics folks i found in our kitchen drawer and used cellotape to hold them together , i also added the feathered earrings because it added more texture and interest, and the leopard coat worn i think it really goes well with my theme. This was the last photoshoot and im actually happy with the outcome. For this mage i used my built in flash the model was standing next to the wall while i took this image this was taken from a high vantage point i got up high, standing on the bed and shot down on the subject just another way to see my subject from an angle that is bound to create interest.im glad the image was focused and had really good details when i viewed it on the computer.
Sometimes it’s what is left out of an image that says more than what is included.

  1. I'm loving this fork headdress Pearllisa! I wonder if after the course you and Mata could get together and have a show as there are similarities in your ideas. It would also be interesting to see the forks turned the other way, perhaps covering your models eyes?
