The main reason he started his lab services is that he enjoyed working with Artists, Designers & Photographers and the conversations about their work. He really enjoyed the technical and conceptual side of producing work and being part of the creative process.
He has collaborated with some of the following photographers:
Derek Henderson -New Zealand born creates imagery of natural beauty and classical elegance, selecting bespoke photographic approaches for each of his subjects.
Azita Agnew -This exhibition pays tribute to the longest living residents of Cornwall Park; the mighty râkau or trees that dwell in this iconic Auckland landmark. Azita Agnew has captured the character of individual trees in bold photographs on display.
I researched Azita and did my photography response
Azita Agnew-Azita is a photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. In the search for beauty, she explores both the complexity and the simplicity of the world around us. Her canvas covers a broad range of practices in portraiture, nature and documentary.
Genre:creative,fine art,fashion
This series is called Perception i think for a magazine in new zealand
My response
''Perception'' the same model with shoulder length hair is wearing different attires possibly a recognition to the various upbringing of a male, different agenda or race that Azita is trying to portray. The images were in portraits with a plain white background so i tried to emulate that.
How does their work compare to yours? Azitas portraits as you can see has no harsh shadows as this was shot in the studio so one main light would have been placed at the bottom of the model to eliminate the shadows which was used throught her series, while i used the built in flash which you can see has shadows on the right because i was facing slightly to the left side of the models face.
What ideas are similar? using a plain white background, portrait shots, the model is placed in the centre of the frame almost feeling the frame.
I liked how the images turned out because of the different items Azita used was similar to mine.
Azita Agnew series is called New Zealand Botanical in wich she has captured a few range of plant species. I think Azita has captured this collections possibly to pay tribute to New Zealand's natural heritage to showcase the beautiful flower species.
Genre:creative,nature

For this image i used a narrow depth of field making sure the background is out of focus i like how the warm tone inthis image is similar to Azitas work.
This was edited in camera using a narrow depth of field i changed it to black and white.
I really like this image because of the yellow leaves have leading lines.
for this image i placed the camera close to the plant thats why it is out focus but the other part of the plants are in focus.
Azita has captured each flower possibly using a macro lens.I enjoy photographing flowers because of the wonderful colours, patterns and textures.I have noticed when shooting from above, looking straight down at the flower you get different outcome than shooting from a far.i liked how my images turned i enjoyed todays shoot.I really enjoyed this shoot because some my images turned out successful for my response.

Nice work Pearllisa. Your husband has been a patient collaborator this term! Can you add to this post by reflecting on how your photography worked? Are you happy with the results? Also what genre was Azita working in when she shot her project? Were they for a magazine/advertising campaign/personal work etc...
ReplyDeleteHi Pearllisa. You mention Derek Henderson in this post. Can you upload some of his images? Also, could you do some individual image evaluation? Which is your favorite? What techniques have you learnt through the mini project?
