Term 2 Week 1 Portfolio

This whole week was a challenge for me to actually come up with something for my portfolio i finally decided to to do a conceptual recycle eco fashion photoshoot.Throughout every stage of my photoshoot process i will create each outfit using whatever items i can find at home, clothing will definitely be second hand nothing new will be used in the photoshoot to create awareness to care for the environment. We all need to take responsibility to reduce the waste we personally send to landfills. If we adopt a zero-waste:100% recycling attitude we can make a huge difference in our lifetime for the next generation.
The images below was shot in our living room using a black fabric as the backdrop. My husband was down with the flu whole week so i was kind of worried as to how he will pose infront of the camera but he did a brilliant job. So far i liked how the images turned out because whole week i was uninspired and had no direction for my portfolio.I am inspired when i look at my images and challenged to do something different for the next one. This is the first photoshoot i have done and i plan to be more creative for the next.I used a narrow depth of field shooting straight forward or downwards, model was placed in the middle of the frame.

techniques: built in camera flash, gel lights(i placed it over the built in flash),prism and i edited on camera raw.
materials: garbage bag, newspaper, beanie, mesh jacket, cut out leather sleeves
improvements:for my next photoshoot i will borrow the canon speedlite, use a 50mm lens, use a reflector, maybe change the background abit and use other relevant materials suitable for the portfolio and most of all keep challenging myself.

FINAL IMAGE 1
I choose to use this image for my portfolio because the image turned out clear, their is great detail and the newspaper compliments with my theme.I  like the texture on the times with little colour showing with the yellow and blue, the model is placed on the left side of the frame facing the right.I like how the background blends with the beanie which was intentional.Just focusing on the newspaper like scarf. The leather sleeves also makes the image interesting which i will keep and not not crop.I really like this image because this was my first shoot for my portfolio which was unplanned but this one really was outstanding from the rest.
 f/4.5, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 32mm focal length
The image above i used a prism as you can see a thick strand of light i placed the prism above the lens to get this effect.

 f/4.5, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 23mm focal length

 f/4.5, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 23mm focal length
I used a prism here as well just a little bit of reflection at the bottom.

 f/4.4, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 33mm focal length
The image above my model is placed on the right side of the frame. This images i was inspired to use garbage bags as a skirt for the model to wear.

 f/4, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 28mm focal length

f/4, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 28mm focal length

f/4, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 20mm focal length

f/4, shutter 1/200sec, ISO 100, 18mm focal length

Below are the images i re-edited on camera raw

The image was quite underexposed so i increased the exposure, contrast, highlights, blacks and decreased the saturation removing all the colour which i like. This image i used my built in flash and placed my model in the middle of the frame, hes wearing two garbage bags wrapped around his waist like a lavalava hes wearing a mesh jacket.

  1. Loving the work so far bee so keep it up! In terms of the clothing experimentation, will you be using a set palette or will you be incorporating a variety of textures, materials and colours?
